Bauma 2007: New MK 63 mobile construction crane

The range of Liebherr mobile construction cranes has now been extended to include an additional, especially compact model. Liebherr will be taking the opportunity at Bauma 2007 to present the three-axle MK 63, the smallest member of the series. This newly designed mobile construction crane is intended as a compact, flexible and extremely adaptable taxi crane, ideally suited for operations in densely built-up inner cities.

Resting on a three-axle chassis, the MK 63 allows for a maximum radius of 36 m and, thanks to its unique 45° super-raised working angle, can achieve hook heights of up to 47.9 m – something never before possible with a mobile construction crane. Other innovations are the use of disc brakes for the first time on a mobile construction crane and the possibility of remote diagnoses via satellite-based data transfer. The MK 63 needs only one person to set it up thanks, not least, to the high safety standard achieved by the electronic assembly monitoring.

Like the four-axle and five-axle mobile construction cranes from Liebherr, the new three-axle unit offers the very latest in chassis technology. This includes the variable steering concept with active rear-axle steering, the Niveaumatik suspension system and AS-TRONIC transmission. The five travel programs are adjustable at the push of a button: “Road travel”, “All-wheel drive”, “Crawler gear”, “Reduced swing-out” and “Independent rear-axle steering”.
